About Us

Nutryvitta began operations back in the year 2000 as a small, family owned, sustainable farm, specializing in the production and distributing natural products. The company has been consistent in the pursuit of excellence focusing initially on quality control,  improving the quality of soil preparation, seedling selection, harvesting, packing and finally, transport and distribution to retail outlets.

The business achieved initial success concentrating on a limited product line and localized distribution. However, around the end of 2005, head farmer and family leader,  Mr. M. Affonso Mussolino started to understand the greater potential for the business. He looked at the ways his family and neighbors used the natural products in a diverse manner and realized that Nutryvitta  could expand its product line while still using the same natural resources. In doing this, they could also offer new natural products, which were previously indigenous to the local area, to a larger market.

Inaugurated in the beginning of 2006, the first manufacturing unit, based at the headquarters of one of the family farms, in the region on the borderline of Cities Juquiá and Sete Barras in the Ribeira Valley, started to process (mostly handmade) the new line of  products (banana chips, dried bananas and candies).Later, in 2010, with addition of family members to the business, Nutryvitta  completed another new plant, located in the center of the industrial provincial town of Sete Barras. This new facility allowed for expanded production and the addition of further new products into the line completing the transition from small farm into the retail company: Nutryvitta .

With the new facilities the company was able to move from a handmade process to semi-automated production, increasing capacity almost 10 fold while still maintaining the natural qualities of the product. The company has increased in size in recent years through a combination of organic growth and acquisitions. One of the new acquisitions that took place recently means that Nutryvitta is now fastest growing company in the Vale do Ribeira, the region known as the “banana region”.

As a result of the investments in the product and manufacturing process, in July 2013 the company was able to launch the product in to United States with a focus on small local stores which fulfill appetite and need for healthy and nutritious products for the American diet.

Raison D’etre

Nowadays people are much more interested in maintaining a healthy diet. Especially within United States which in the past 20 years has had a dramatic increase in obesity. For instance, in 2010 no state had a prevalence of obesity less than 20%. Thirty six states had a prevalence of 25% or more; 12 of these states (Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and West Virginia) had a prevalence of 30% or more.

In its latest update of the RDA, the Food and Nutrition Board issued a broad and more complex set of benchmarks called the Dietary Reference Intakes (DRI). The latest report examines minimum nutrient requirements, as well as nutritional factors that might enhance health and prevent chronic disease as well the ill effects of getting too much of a good thing. Among its first recommendation included the bottom line: Americans need to eat more fiber, found in foods such as fruit, vegetables and cereal bran. Additionally, some scientific evidence suggests strong evidence for the protection fiber offers against heart disease*.

Nutryvitta products are ideal for the US market. The flours and dried bananas not only add fiber to your diet but also antioxidants and tannin for a nutritional boost, they also boosts the amount of resistant starch by 12%. This allows the banana products to claim to be a lower glycemic index food because the resistant starch is not digestible and works in your system like insoluble fiber, which can be very good for diabetics. However it is also hugely beneficial for non-diabetics who are looking for lifestyle modifications, such as increased physical activity, weight loss and eating healthily with a diet rich in fiber, fruit and vegetables. The fact is that Nutryvitta products are very rich in fiber which according FDA (21 CFR 101.76) low fat diets rich in fiber-containing grain products, fruits, and vegetables may reduce the risk of some types of cancer, a disease associated with many factors. Additionally FDA (21 CFR 101.77) states that diets low in saturated fat and cholesterol and rich in fruits, vegetables, and grain products that contain some types of dietary fiber, particularly soluble fiber, may reduce the risk of heart disease, a disease associated with many factors. The Nutryvitta flours provide a substantially amount of soluble fiber that can help you to reach your diet goals!!

The great thing is that Nutryvitta products are not a "diet" that will cause weight loss if strictly followed, but a choice for something that seems sustainable to the customers because it is extremely tasty, nutritionally balanced, and filling. Understanding what triggers overeating for our customers are also a key to the company’s long term strategy.
